Spot prices on Scottish and Norwegian salmon are said to be either static or slipping slightly in week 34 of 2018 (commencing Aug. 19), sources told Undercurrent News.

One source, based in the UK and buying both Norwegian and Scottish salmon kilograms said that – weighing 3-5 – prices for both were down, to around the 5.20/kg mark. “Demand is flat” he added.

A second source, buying smaller salmon than this, reported Scottish prices were static week-on-week, at 5.10- 5.30/kg.

Then a third source, also a UK-based processor buying significant quantities of salmon, put the delivered prices for Norwegian salmon at around 4.50/kg, or NOK 48.60kg, for 4-5kg salmon, with Scottish a “little higher”.

This reflects the picture reported last week, with many salmon buyers and sellers on holiday and demand eased over the summer break.
